Eid is coming, but the salaries of garment factory workers have not been paid yet.

Hello friends, welcome to my new article. I hope you are well. Now, in this article I will talk about the coming of Eid, but the salaries of the garment factory workers have not been paid yet. So, let's go to know about this. Why haven't the factory owners paid the workers yet? So, let's go upstairs.

On the one hand, Eid-ul-Aza, the largest religious festival in the country, knocked on the door. On the other hand, the spread of the contagious corona virus is increasing across the country. However, at this critical juncture, June wages for workers in the 481 readymade garment factories that are members of the BGMEA have not yet arrived. Workers in the industrial sector are protesting every day demanding wages. Meanwhile, hundreds of factories have been shut down since the onset of the corona crisis.

According to BGMEA sources, there are currently 1,926 readymade garment factories owned by BGMEA. Of these, 1,465 textile mills paid workers in June. However, in June, 481 factories had to pay their workers.

Earlier in June, about 80 garment factory workers were not paid in May. According to the BGMEA, most garment factories that have not yet paid their workers are small in size. Workers in those factories were not even paid 100% of their wages in April.

Analysis of data provided by BGMEA, a consortium of readymade garment factory owners, revealed that 333 of the 1,926 member factories were in the Kaka metropolitan area as of July 16. Of these, 260 companies paid salaries and allowances in June. In June, 58 out of 613 factories in Khajipur, 323 out of 412 factories in South Ashulia and 156 out of 198 textile factories in Narayanganj were paid.

Of the 252 textile factories in the Chittagong region, 135 were paid by June. In addition, it paid the wages of 14 textile workers in 18 factories in other parts of the country. 4 factory workers have not yet been paid.

According to a survey, 8% of textile factories (1,465) had already paid their workers by June. Of the factory owners, 481 or 24 percent did not pay June salaries and allowances.

In May, 98% of textile factories in BGMEA member countries paid their workers. In April, 98% of garment factory workers were paid.

BGMEA Public Relations Standing Committee Chairman Khan Monirul Alam Shuo said most factories would have to pay workers in July.
